Ruffsketch Ting

‘Each new hour holds new chances
For a new beginning.
The horizon leans forward,
Offering you space to place new steps of change.’
~ Maya Angelou

Lovingly ripped off from Bristol’s iconic d’n’b night in the ’90s, Ruffsketch Ting is basically me taking long nature walks and stopping here and there to make very quick sketches of the landscape. I try to avoid the temptation to make it too ‘accurate’, the main aim being to capture an uncanny feeling (usually anxiety and despair perpetuating an attempt at something transformative in an environment that, to me, feels as much authentic as it does mysterious), therefore resist the urge to tame it into any aesthetical type. In some ways I suppose I see this approach as a bit like sampling… maybe even a kind of dance in the sense of connecting with a particular space and time.
