Being a Dartmoor lad, DJ Fingle is basically a nod to a much loved area of the River Teign near to where I grew up, plus it’s taken from the old English word ‘fang’ (meaning ‘to catch’) which is a reference to catching fish, and I like how this relates to DJs crate-digging for records in the hope of finding something new and unique beneath the surface. I also love the idea of a record as not just a passive object simply containing a piece of music to listen to, but also an object with an active component forming an interchangeable part of an instrument creating something new and unique via the continuous DJ mix.
